What happens in CELTA course : Week 4
Day 16, 26 Nov
1300 hrs - Can’t believe that we’re already in the last week of CELTA. Just two more TP sessions and one more assignment. Yay! Mind you am not saying, that life will get easier after this Friday. On the contrary it may be tougher.
1700 hrs - How I wish I had my TP session today instead of tomorrow. That way I would have finished by Wednesday and relaxed on Thursday and Friday. But alas!
Day 17, 27 Nov
1000 hrs - Well, that thing I said about wishing that I wanted my TP yesterday. It really wouldn’t matter I guess. I have a strong feeling that I am going to mess up my TP today. Big time! No excuses. I should have started preparing for TP earlier than now (In fact as I write this I have only managed to put a few words in my lesson plan). But then I have no regrets about the weekend of attending weddings of two of my best buddies ( no they did not get married to each other :P), the pre and post wedding rituals and with a cricket match at the stadium. Between all that and preparing for a TP I think I’d choose ‘all that’ any day.
1800 hrs - As expected I delivered a bad TP. I wonder how I got rated as ‘standard’ . It was way below. But what the hell??? I’ll take it! 🙂
Day 18, 28 Nov
1300 hrs - The classroom became a world map and everyone went and stood where they wanted to go and work post CELTA. People went to SE Asia, Latin America, Australia. Where did I go??? Antartica ( I wonder who I’ll teach English there? May be Penguins :P), Kazakhstan, Mongolia. Nevertheless a great session! Got loads of advice on professional development, getting a job and the works once we go out of the class room in a couple of days.
Day 19, 29 Nov
1530 hrs - Whoa! What a lesson by a fellow trainee. He totally rocked it!! Fantastic amount of planning, attention to detail and creativity! Its just that there is another lesson in progress and them am going to deliver my final lesson. But am sure this guy is gonna get a huge applause once all that is over. Seems like he put all his energies in crossing that finish line with a bang!
1730 hrs - Finally its over. Ok! Technically there is an input session left tomorrow morning but then its as good as over. Sense of relief and hi-fives all around. We stuck through and made it to the end! Yay!
Day 20, 30 Nov
0200 hrs - Guess we guys took the celebration a bit too long. Me and two fellow trainees got some beers and probably started at around 8 or so and were drinking until half an hour back. All the while talking about every possible topic on earth ranging from politics to music to cinema to religion to travel. Gonna wake up with a bad hangover! Damn!
1400 hrs - The party with our students has begun. So many speeches of gratitude from students. Never knew that we made such a difference to their lives. There is a ‘feel good’ factor all around. Nice!
1600 hrs - Yay! We got our certificates and all of us passed! Handshakes and hugs all around!
1730 hrs - I forgot my certificate in the hotel itself and headed home. Can you believe that???? After those four weeks of hard work, sleepless nights and working weekends, I forgot my certificate at the hotel!!! :O What an anti-climax! ( I realized and went back to the hotel and got it though)
